Fluid Level Controller

Level controllers are widely used in the engineering industry.

When the output flow rate of the system is not stable, it is very difficult to control the level manually. Therefore and advanced controller such as a PID(proportional–integral–derivative) controller should be used. In this experiment a PID controller was tested for a lab scale level controller.
The algorithm was made using LabVIEW. Because the objective was observing the characteristics of such a system when used a PID controller. LabVIEW is capable of indicating values by a graphical interface.




As there is a clear sine wave when the proportional gain is high Ziegler–Nichols method could be used to tune the PID parameters.

    1. Feed of a continuous distillation column should be in constant pressure. This is normally achieved using a level controller.
